Investigative Update-Armed Robbery Arrest

During the month of April 2017, the City of Carbondale Police Department received three separate reports of armed robberies of restaurant delivery drivers.  During the course of investigation into the incidents detectives identified one of the suspects as 20 year old Bobby L. Barnes, of Carbondale, Illinois. On 11-27-17, officers located Barnes in Carbondale and arrested him. Chief of Police Jeff Grubbs said, “The investigative leads developed by our patrol officers, combined with the tenacity of our detectives culminated in the arrest of Barnes.  I commend them for their hard work in bringing this subject to justice.” Barnes was charged with three counts of Armed Robbery and was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail. The investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
