Death Investigation and Arrest

On 11-23-17 at 12:03 a.m., the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to an apartment in the 300 block of South Marion Street in reference to a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male who was unresponsive with a stab wound to the chest. Officers and Jackson County Ambulance Service paramedics performed life-saving measures at that time. The victim, 55 year old Reginal Glispie of Carbondale, was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale where he was later pronounce deceased. The suspect in this case, 42 year old Rebecca Belle Valentine of Carbondale, was Glispie's girlfriend and resided in the apartment with him. She was arrested and was preliminarily charged with involuntary manslaughter. Valentine was incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail.
