Aggravated Battery with a Firearm Update

UPDATE -The City of Carbondale Police Department continues to investigate an early morning shooting on 10-21-2017 which occurred in the 500 block of South Ash Street.  The victim in the incident remains hospitalized in a St. Louis area hospital, but his condition is improving and he is expected to survive.  The victim is being identified only as a 32 year old male and he is cooperating with the investigation.

Detectives are continuing to attempt to identify a potential suspect and are asking anyone who was present during the incident to contact police.  There were a crowd of people present when the incident occurred and we are calling upon them to contact us to assist us with the investigation.

Previous Release:

On 10-21-17 at approximately 3:18 a.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 500 Block of South Ash Street in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers met with an individual with a possible life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a St. Louis area hospital. The victim is not being identified at this time and the investigation is currently active. There is not any suspect information to provide at this time.
