Aggravated Battery with a Firearm Investigation

On 09-17-2017 at 2:26 am, officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department were in the area of the 400 block of West Cherry Street when they heard multiple gunshots.  Officers quickly located an adult male in the 400 block of West Cherry Court who had been shot.  The male was transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale by ambulance for treatment and was eventually transported to a St. Louis area hospital.   During the course of the investigation, offices identified the suspect as Terrence Curtis, who is an acquaintance of the victim.  Officers learned Curtis and the victim were arguing over an ongoing dispute.  A warrant charging Curtis with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm was obtained and includes a $500,000 bond.   Curtis should be considered armed and dangerous.   Anyone with information about the incident or Curtis’ whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at (618) 549-COPS (2677). The investigation into this incident is continuing.
