Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Felon In Possession of a Firearm Investigation

On 09-04-2017 at about 11:55 p.m., the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to a report of gunshots being fired in the 700 block of South Lewis Lane. Officers responded to the area, where it was determined that occupants of a residence had been in an argument with acquaintances. During the course of the argument, a male brandished a firearm and shot in the direction of one of the occupants, then fled the area in a vehicle. During the course of the investigation detectives, with the City of Carbondale Police Department applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Dennis Higgins Jr., charging him with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. Higgins’ bond has been set at $250,000. Higgins should be considered armed and dangerous. There have been no reported injuries as a result of this incident and the investigation is continuing.
