Unlawful Use of Weapons Investigation

On 06-18-2017 at about 5:57 p.m., the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to a report of shots being fired in the 500 block of South Graham Street. Officers responded to the area, where it was determined that occupants of a residence had been in an argument with acquaintances. During the course of the argument, several people brandished firearms and shot in the direction of each other.  Some of the suspects fled the area in a white Jeep, which was later located in Marion, IL. Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence after repeated attempts to contact any occupants went unanswered. Officers with the Carbondale Police Department/SIU Department of Public Safety Special Response Team served the search warrant and made entry into the residence. No one was located inside. There have been no reported injuries as a result of this incident. The investigation into the incident is continuing.   Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Carbondale Police Department at 618-457-3200 or Crimestoppers at 618-549-COPS.
