Aggravated Battery with a Firearm Investigation-Update

The investigation into this incident has determined the victim and the suspect, who are acquaintances, were inside a hotel room at America’s Best Value Inn, 700 East Main Street.  Following a dispute, the suspect shot the victim and fled the scene.  The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale by a friend who was with him.  The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover from his injury.  As the suspect has yet to be charged, his identity is not being released.  The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Previous Release:

On 04-04-17 at approximately 10:37 p.m., officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in reference to a gunshot victim.  Officers met with an individual with a possible life threatening gunshot wound.  The investigation revealed that the shooting took place in the 700 block of East Main Street.  The victim is not being identified at this time and the investigation is currently active.  There is not any suspect information to provide currently.
