Attempted Murder & Unlawful Use of Weapon Investigation

07-15-13 Web Release –Attempted Murder & Unlawful Use of Weapon Investigation

On 07-14-13 at 1:50 a.m., while on foot patrol, officers of the City of Carbondale Police Department heard a single gunshot near a vehicle located in the 600 block of East Grand Avenue and determined one of the occupants of the vehicle had fired a gun at a pedestrian in the area. The vehicle fled from the area and was stopped by officers a short distance away. During the course of investigation, the incident was determined to be related to an ongoing feud between Andre T Bailey and the victim, who are acquaintances.  The victim was not injured during this incident. Officers arrested five individuals in connection with  this incident. Anthony Bailey was arrested and charged with Assault and Disorderly Conduct after it was learned he tried to engage the victim in a fight. He posted cash bond and was released to appear in Jackson County Court. Andre Bailey, an occupant in the suspect vehicle, was charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Jeremy C Clark, also an occupant of the suspect vehicle, was charged with Unlawful Use of A Weapon by a Felon and Aggravated Fleeing to Elude.  Nashika Bradsfield and Desmine Schauf were arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery and Mob Action after battering an individual at the scene who they believed to be involved in the shooting incident.  Those four were incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail.  The investigation into the incident is continuing.
