Residential Burglary Case Update

06-24-13 Web Release – Residential Burglary Case Update

In June of 2010, the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 2500 block of South Illinois Avenue in reference to a report of a residential burglary.  Officers learned an unknown suspect entered two residences and stole property.  During the course of the investigation, probable cause was recently developed and an arrest warrant was issued for Justin Koonce, charging him with Residential Burglary.  Koonce was arrested on 06-18-13 at his residence in Murphysboro.  He was unable to post the $75,000 bondand transported to Jackson County Jail for incarceration.

Prior Release

On 06-18-10, the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 2500 block of South Illinois Avenue in reference to a report of a residential burglary.  Officers learned on 06-18-10 between 2:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. an unknown suspect entered two residences and stole property.  The investigation into the incident is continuing. 

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 457-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 549-COPS (2677).   Anonymous tips may also be made by selecting the “Crime Stoppers” tab located on the main page of this web site.
